Manchester 2002

For the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Gold Medal Systems released GEMS 2.0. This version contained many enhancements. Two of the most significant enhancements were the addition of an integrated image capture and pass production component, and the ability to seamlessly integrate reports into GEMS.

Gold Medal Systems worked closely with Games staff and consultants to customize GEMS to meet the specific needs of the organizing committee. Business processes and system screens were synchronized to streamline many of the activities. Gold Medal Systems was also involved in advising Games staff on business process issues.

Many other new features were added to the Volunteer Management and Accreditation components. GEMS was also seamlessly integrated with the Internet registration process, as well as several internally developed applications, such as Athlete Medical, Clothing Distribution and Village Meal Tracking.
